Before you begin

  • Pro for SoundFont imports.
  • A valid .sf2 file with at least one supported melodic or percussion preset, saved somewhere Android’s document picker can reach.
  • Enough free device storage for the imported copy. Keep the source file in a separate backup location.

Prepare a bank

Keep track of the original SF2 file you will import and back up separately.Pixel 10a
  • Select the Rehearsal-Dulcimer.sf2 file.

SoundFont import requires Pro. InPraise Keys accepts SF2 files and adds compatible presets to the on-device SoundFonts library. The app copies the bank into its private storage, so leave room for that copy and retain the original file outside the app.

Check the file on your device before opening the picker. A filename ending in .sf2 is necessary but does not guarantee that the bank is valid or contains a preset the app can load. Use a bank you are allowed to use and keep its source file available if you need to restore or move it.

Plan
Pro is required to import SoundFonts.
File
A valid .sf2 bank with supported melodic or percussion presets.
Storage
The import is copied to this device’s private library.

Import a bank and choose presets

Start from the selected channel’s instrument picker and open Sources > SoundFonts. Choose the local bank in Android’s document picker, then confirm which compatible presets to add when a bank contains several sounds.

  1. In the phone picker, tap the back arrow beside Categories to reveal Sources, then choose SoundFonts.

The SoundFonts source has a separate Import SF2 action.Pixel 10a
    • Choose Soundfonts to open the imported soundfont library.
    • Tap Import SF2 to choose a soundfont file.
  2. Tap Import SF2 and navigate to the folder containing the bank. If Downloads does not show it, open the picker menu, choose Show roots > device/internal storage > Download > InPraiseResources, then switch to List view if you need the filename.

    • Open the InPraiseResources folder.
  3. In List view, select Rehearsal-Dulcimer.sf2. Choose the .sf2 bank you want to import on your own device.

    • Select the Rehearsal-Dulcimer.sf2 file.
  4. For a bank with multiple compatible presets, choose Import All Presets or Select Presets. Choose Select Presets when you only need a few sounds.

    • Choose Select Presets to import only the instrument you want.
  5. In Select Presets, tap each sound you want, then tap Import N Presets. This example imports Hammered Dulcimer from the eight-sound bank.

Choose individual sounds, then confirm with Import N Presets.Pixel 10a
    • Select Hammered Dulcimer, then tap Import 1 Preset.
    • Tap Import 1 Preset to add the selected Hammered Dulcimer.
  6. Wait for the picker to return to My Soundfonts and confirm that the imported entry appears.

    • Tap Rehearsal Dulcimer to load it on the selected channel.
  7. Tap the imported entry to assign it to the selected channel; the picker closes immediately. Expand the onscreen keyboard with its keyboard button if needed, then play a few keys.

    • Play C3 to audition the imported soundfont.

Manage the local SoundFonts library

The entry’s star and row menu provide local favorite and bank-management actions.Pixel 10a
  • Tap Rehearsal Dulcimer to load it on the selected channel.

My Soundfonts shows imported banks and their compatible sound entries. Search for a sound and use its star to add or remove a favorite. The bank row menu can change its instrument category or remove the imported bank from this device.

Removing an imported bank removes all of its entries and the stored SF2 copy. Any channel or saved rig that refers to those sounds will need the bank imported again before it can play them.

Back up and move a SoundFont

Export the rig preset separately; this action does not include the original SF2 bank.Pixel 10a
  • Choose Save to User Presets to keep a copy in your library.
  • Choose Export to share a preset file.

A saved rig preset refers to its imported SoundFont sounds; it does not embed the SF2 bank. Exporting a rig is therefore not a SoundFont backup. Keep the original .sf2 file in a separate folder or backup service you control.

To move the rig to another Android device, copy the original SF2 file there, import it through that device’s SoundFonts source, and load the matching preset. If you remove the bank or clear app data, import the saved source file again before using sounds that depend on it.

  1. Copy the original .sf2 file outside the app before deleting or replacing the imported bank.
  2. Export the rig preset separately if you need its instrument assignments and mix settings on another device.
  3. On the destination device, import the bank and then import or recall the rig preset.
  4. Load each imported sound and play a few keys before rehearsal.

A preset uses more sounds than you need
Choose Select Presets and import only the compatible entries you plan to use.
A saved rig has an unavailable SoundFont
