Before you begin
- Save the current rig before changing audio configuration.
- Keep original imported SF2/audio files outside the app for a recoverable backup.
Audio settings
- Choose the audio output device here.
- Select the audio sample rate here.
Output selection chooses the real audio device. Sample Rate supports 44.1 or 48 kHz, with 48 kHz the low-latency default. Changing it restarts playback. Buffer Size trades responsiveness against stability; a processing block is not the same as total MIDI-to-speaker latency.
A real USB output exposes USB Audio Driver. If its 128-frame setting crackles, try 256 or 512 and check actual hardware behavior. The capture emulators have no USB interface, so that conditional row is not fabricated.
- Performance Mode
- Uses faster CPU cores and keeps playback through screen-off/other-app use; may consume more battery.
- Mix With Other Apps
- Allows other apps to play along through a shared system output. A directly driven USB interface can remain exclusive to InPraise Keys.
- Pan Mode / Mono Mode
- Chooses stereo panning behavior or sums Output 1–2 to mono.
- Show stats for nerds
- Shows the active stream, buffer/DSP/path details and reported underruns. Hardware may not report every statistic.
Performance settings
- Turn off animations to reduce movement in the interface.
Preload earlier/later presets warms nearby files for a setlist. Both counts at zero use the least memory. Preload while playing warms those files during playback; it does not control background audio. Hold notes through change preserves the old sound until held notes are released.
Conserve idle channels bypasses inserts on muted/powered-off channels. A volume-zero layer can remain live for expression. Turn off animations reduces UI motion. Open keyboard at launch chooses the initial performance layout.
A supported backup workflow
- Choose Save to User Presets to keep a copy in your library.
- Choose Export to share a preset file.
Export important presets as .inpraisekey files on Stage or Pro. Keep your original imported SF2 banks, samples and exported recordings in a separate folder or backup service you control. Preset export carries rig settings and states, not all referenced media or an entire setlist-library archive.
Test a backup by importing a copy and checking its required sounds. Do not delete the only source assets after exporting a preset. Reinstalling/clearing app data can remove locally stored user material.
- Export each important rig preset.
- Copy original custom SF2/sample files and exported recordings to your backup location.
- Keep a written copy of the setlist order/song settings when those matter.
- Import a test copy and verify playback before treating the backup as complete.
Current Android Sync limitation
- Android Sync currently uses an on-device test store; use import/export for backups.
The current Sync screen identifies an On-device test store and testing controls. It is not a functioning cloud sync service, even if its toggle reads enabled. Do not rely on it to back up or transfer performances.
Use the supported import/export workflow above. CloudKit/iCloud wording on this Android test screen does not establish a working Android cloud connection.
Diagnose common failures
- Tap Download to install the Pro sound library.
- Tap Refresh MIDI Sources after connecting a keyboard.
Check the simple signal path first: active plan, ready bank, selected channel, note range/source, channel Mute/Solo, bus level, master Mute and audio output. Test one basic sound with effects bypassed before rebuilding a complex rig.
For crackles, use a larger buffer, reduce heavy layers/reverbs and compare the active DSP/underrun stats. For MIDI issues, use Midi Settings > Capture before changing mappings. About shows the app version for support; include your Android device, version, plan, output and reproduction steps.

What you should have now
You can navigate either settings layout, make controlled performance changes, and preserve your own assets using supported workflows.
Common problems
- Preset has missing instruments
- Check the required bank and plan; move custom source files separately.
- App crackles on a large rig
- Increase buffer size, reduce heavy processing and check DSP/underruns.
- Sync toggle is on but another device has nothing
- The current Android Sync is an on-device test store. Use import/export.
- Audio latency is high over Bluetooth
- Test a wired output and the active stream before changing MIDI settings.
